“Bingo,” an open door …………..
Picture yourself living in a small apartment or college dorm room. You feel pretty safe.
You know the rules about leaving your residence unlocked
but you trust everyone in the complex. You want to run down to the
local market for a few minutes.
You leave the apartment or room thinking you have locked your door. Unknowing to you the door was not locked.
The age and wear of the locks had caused it to jam. You start on your way to the market.
What you don’t know is that someone has been
watching you. It’s a bad character looking for something to
steal, and who knows what else. He has been looking for an easy target.
To him you looked to be in a hurry, so you fit the bill.
When you leave, he turns your door knob hoping to get
lucky. “Bingo“, an open door and no indication of an alarm
system. Part way into your trip, you remember you left something.
You turn around and go back to your apartment or room.
As you approach your apartment or room, you hear noise
inside. You're terrified. You run down the street and call police
from a safe distance. It’s a very busy time, so the police take
some time to get there.
When you go into the apartment, you find a mess and
all your valuables gone. The rear sliding window is open. You
start to think of all the things you could have done to prevent this.
You knew you needed some way to alert you if someone was in your apartment or room, but you never got around to it.
You've seen numerous ways to get the job done, but they all required monthly fees and expensive connections.
What if you could protect your apartment or room without expensive connections and monthly fees?
will sound an alarm and dial up 5 preset
phone numbers to let you know motion has been detected or a door or
window has opened in your home. A land line with "tone" dialing is
required.

How it Works:
1. When the door/window sensor or motion detector is triggered, it
sounds an alarm and sends a signal to the base unit.
2. The base unit dials the first telephone number of your programmed
list.
3. The person answering the call will hear a prerecorded alert message.
4. That person will have the option to listen in on the room, broadcast
their voice through the base unit, or disarm the system.
5. If there is no answer, or if the person doesn't disarm the system,
it will dial the next number on your programmed list.
Includes 1 base unit with AC adaptor, 1 Window/door sensor (wireless
transmission up to 250 feet), 1 motion detector (range up to 8 yards)
and 1 remote control with panic feature for arming and disarming the
unit.

Small Business Petty Problem
Melvin owns a small business. He has 65 employees. He manages all their
activities from a central site. They perform various services for different
companies on a contractual basis. Most of his crews are pretty loyal and want to
see the company succeed. In every company there are disgruntled employees who
will do just about anything to make it tougher for a legitimate organization to
profit.
Melvin was super nice to all his employees and they respected
him very much. He knew them all by first name and was always concerned about
their families. He even knew most of their family members. He also knew that
some of them were struggling financially and assisted whenever he could.
They did not expect him to earn a living for them, but they appreciated
anything he offered. They were all hard workers and when the company succeeded
they always got extra. Melvin always kept about $3000.00 petty cash in his
office safe. It was used to purchase things they needed at the different sites.
He also used it to help some of the employees.
If one of them needed a
little extra cash to makes ends meet, he would take it out of petty cash. It was
on the honor system and most of the employees used it sparingly. He mostly used
it for the people with families.
He knew that the single guys had an
easier time financially. He did not worry as much about them. Most of the
employees understood how it worked and did not mind.
Melvin had just
hired a new guy named ,Robert, about a month ago. He was not sure if the new
employee would fit in with the rest of the crew but he was skilled.
Melvin gave him a chance. When he explained how the petty cash fund
worked, Robert had immediate objections. He did not think it was right to treat
the employees with families better than the rest.
He said he had
difficult times too. Melvin explained that Robert doesnot have the
responsibilities of a family. He told him that his actions would only affect
himself.
He explained that a guy with a familys actions, affects
everyone in the family. Robert pretended to understand but the look on his face
said different. Robert began to do things that were adverse to the company.
Melvin let it go for a while, hoping things would turn around, but they
never did. Finally one day he called Robert into his office and terminated his
employment. Robert was furious and vowed that he would get what he deserves.
Melvin did not think much of it. He had heard this kind of talk from
others whom he had fired. A few weeks later Melvin received an earnings report
for his company.
They were doing great. He was able to double the petty
cash fund and help even more employees. One afternoon Melvin was leaving his
office for the night. He got in his car and drove about 5 miles, when he
remembered he did not set the alarm. He knew he had to go back and set the
alarm.
He drove back to the office. As he drove up, he noticed the
lights were on. He knew there was someone inside. He called the police. The
police arrived, approached the office and trapped the suspect inside. They
ordered the person inside to come out. As the person came out, Melvin looked at
the guy.
It was Robert. He had heard about the doubled petty cash fund
and had come back to take it all. He was arrested and charged with burglary.
Melvin no longer keeps petty cash in the office. He deposits in the local bank.
He uses a company debit card for withdrawals.
Not all employees are
trustworthy. Business owners sometimes have a need to know whats going on at the
business after they have left. Businesses handle all kinds of sensitive
information. In the best interest of clients, you should develop a means to keep
your business secure when you are not there.
